Redesigning the Women That Farm Website:
A Story of Community, Quality, and Connection
The Challenge: A Website That Didn’t Reflect the Brand Experience
Women That Farm is a family-run business providing premium-quality meats straight from their Central Ohio farm to local families. Despite their strong presence in the community and loyal customer base, their previous website didn’t reflect the heart of their business or offer the functionality needed to drive online sales. The homepage lacked essential content explaining who they are, what they do, and why local families should choose their meats over grocery store alternatives. The shopping experience was unintuitive, product pages were sparse on details, and the overall design lacked cohesiveness. To grow their online customer base and better serve existing customers, Women That Farm turned to Linear Creative for a full website redesign which you can see here.
Our Approach: Where Family, Flavor, and Community Meet
We saw this as more than a website project – it was an opportunity to help Women That Farm tell their story in a way that felt welcoming, trustworthy, and aligned with their mission. Our team focused on enhancing the customer journey, establishing visual brand consistency, and creating content that educates, inspires, and ultimately drives sales.
1. Crafting Welcoming, SEO-Driven Copy
We began with a full content overhaul. Our team wrote clear, conversational copy infused with local pride and trust-building transparency. Every section – from the homepage to the product descriptions – was developed with regional SEO best practices in mind to help new customers discover Women That Farm online. The homepage now introduces visitors to the farm’s mission with the welcoming headline: “Welcome to Women That Farm, where family, flavor, and community meet.” This sets the tone for the entire site, emphasizing both product quality and community connection. We also added a detailed new FAQ page to proactively answer common customer questions. The FAQ includes helpful information on the farm’s practices, such as how animals are raised, what they’re fed, how the meat is processed, and how to place or customize an order. This not only builds trust but also reduces friction in the buying process, especially for first-time customers who may be unfamiliar with farm-direct meat purchasing. For example, visitors can now easily learn about the difference in locally raised meats, how pickup and delivery work, and why the farm does not offer shipping at this time. These answers position Women That Farm as transparent, customer-focused, and rooted in integrity.
2. Bringing the Brand to Life Visually
We replaced the outdated visuals with fresh, inviting photos of the farm, the team, and the products themselves. New colors, fonts, and a simplified logo bring cohesiveness to the brand identity. The overall design evokes warmth and trust while giving the business a polished, professional edge that supports e-commerce growth.
3. Highlighting Seasonal Favorites and Product Education
To support more informed purchases, we added a new “Season’s Best Sellers” section on the homepage featuring popular products like Ground Beef, Chicken Breast, and Brats – each linking to informative individual product pages. We used these pages to provide detailed descriptions, suggest uses, and give package weights and pricing, helping customers understand what they’re buying and how to make the most of it.
4. Clarifying the Unique Order and Pickup Process
Unlike traditional food retailers, Women That Farm strives for absolute freshness and does not ship its meats. Instead, customers either pick up their orders from the farm or select a local pickup location and time during checkout. To make this clear, we created a “How It Works” section on the homepage, guiding visitors through the two simple options:
- Farm Pickup: Monday – Friday from 2:30 – 7:00 PM by appointment
- Local Delivery: 1st and 3rd Saturdays at designated Columbus area locations
We also included a downloadable order form, offering flexibility for those who prefer to order by email or phone.
5. Developing a WordPress Site with Robust E-Commerce Functionality
We built the new site on WordPress, integrating an easy-to-use e-commerce platform that allows customers to browse products, select pickup preferences, and complete purchases online. The checkout process includes a custom step where customers choose their preferred pickup day, time, and location – a feature tailored to Women That Farm’s local delivery model. The e-commerce backend makes it easy for the farm to update inventory, adjust product listings, and manage orders. It also supports coupon codes, featured product displays, and customer communication, giving Women That Farm the flexibility to grow their sales while maintaining the close-knit relationships they value with their community.
The Results: A Digital Experience That Feels Like Home
While the new website has just recently launched, internal feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The redesigned site finally tells the full story of Women That Farm – one of hard work, tradition, and community support. With intuitive navigation, compelling content, and visual appeal, the site is poised to attract new families, educate customers, and convert more online sales.
“We’re so proud of the new website. It feels like us . . . genuine, friendly, and all about supporting our neighbors.” – Brandi Anderson, Owner, Women That Farm
